Spectral Lighting were delighted to be involved with the refurbishment of Chivas Brothers new Edwardian style headquarters in central Glasgow’s Blythewood Square.

The offices have been designed to introduce a level of quality, comfort and luxury that not many workplaces can enjoy – appropriate to the brand image and ethos of the premium whisky producer.

The building carefully displays products and images illustrating carefully curated interactions of people, brands and experiences.

Spectral’s STORA-LK rings were chosen by architects Graven and M+E consultants, Atelier Ten for the state-of-the-art meeting spaces. These rooms supported a range of technology solutions which have been designed to give the team every chance to be as collaborative as possible. This is for both locally and with their international team and partners and more recently, home workers.

One of the key aspects of user comfort for the lighting was the deployment of integrated Bluetooth wireless controls. Supplied by Casambi, these were built into the ceiling rose of the STORA-LK fittings with a specially designed bi-material facia to aid signal transmission. This gave users a smooth experience when controlling dimming and scenes.

The STORA-LK’s were supplied in 950, 1200 and 1900mm diameters which were all finished in a satin matt structured black paint. The luminaires are capable of delivering high levels of light which adds flexibility to the tasks for each meeting rooms. Together with the heavy gauge aluminium body these rings give a premium look, which was appropriate to the building.

Elsewhere on the project RIDI Group also supplied EXIDA 3W standalone emergency downlighter units as well as exit signage throughout. The Spectral NOREA-QA surface and wall mount product was also supplied in other areas.

The final installation was well received by the Chivas Brothers and went on to win a British Council of Offices award in Scotland for best Fit Out of Workplace. The Spectral team like to think they did their bit to contribute to this outstanding refurbishment.
